By establishing an Alpine Industry Group, Hunt & Hunt acknowledges the importance of the alpine industry. Our lawyers have a thorough understanding and background of alpine issues both in the snow season and outside of the snow season and bring in-depth knowledge of the ski and snow sports industry and the summer uses of the Alps, which means we have an experienced, practical and efficient approach to our clients' business issues.

We currently perform legal work for developers, operators, ski lodges, alpine associations and the resort boards, and clients related to the alpine industries and our expertise includes:

    • collisions - where skiers/snowboarders collide & one skier/ snowboarder sues the other (including ski racing);
    • lift operation and maintenance - where a skier/snowboarder is injured as a result of a faulty, defective, or improperly maintained lift
    • falls - where skiers/snowboarders, bushwalkers and campers who have an accident while on the mountain & the fault of the injury lies with an improperly designed, maintained, marked or groomed slope or trail
    • instructor injuries - where a skier/snowboarder, under the supervision of an instructor, is led into unmanageable terrain and injures himself, or when a skier/snowboarder, under the supervision of an instructor, injures a third party & that injury is a result of inadequate supervision/ instruction
    • equipment injuries - where injury is caused by a skier's equipment
    • premises liability – including trips & slips in or around buildings
    • general occupiers liability issues
    • snowmaking & snowmobile operation.
