In October 2006, Macrossans Lawyers entered an alliance with Hunt & Hunt to operate as its Queensland office.

Macrossans Lawyers shares Hunt & Hunt's principles of delivering personalised service that adds value to the companies, not for profit organisations and professional individuals we work with.  We are dedicated to establishing long-term partnerships and have serviced many of our clients for several decades.

Macrossans Lawyers' experienced team of solicitors also speak many languages from around the world including Mandarin, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Korean, French, German and Tamil to best meet the needs of our customers.

Expertise

The firm is led by seven Partners, ranging in age from early thirties to late fifties. Their combined experience boosts Hunt & Hunt's capability in the areas of commercial law, insurance, property, and dispute resolution; and extends Hunt & Hunt's expertise in employment law and migration matters.

Commercial Law

Property

Macrossans Lawyers acts for a variety of clients including property developers, property trusts and private owners of commercial buildings. Our property team advises on planning and development through to negotiating sales/acquisitions and leasing.

Employment

Macrossans Lawyers is very active in employment law. We advise and represent both employers and employees on issues including employment contracts, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, intellectual property rights, restraint of trade and termination issues.

Macrossans Lawyers has also acted for the Queensland Teacher's Union and the Queensland Independent Education Union for over 30 years. The firm provides legal assistance to the union's members as well as advises the union in a broad range of industrial and education matters.

Our senior employment lawyers are also members of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Migration

We have lawyers who are also qualified migration agents that advise both companies and individuals on Australia's complex immigration laws. We assist clients to apply for the most suitable temporary and permanent visa options including skilled, employer sponsored and business visas – and provide support at tribunals if required.

Our clients include Napier & Blakeley, John Wilson & Partners Pty Ltd, Mitchell Drilling Contractors, 4 Seas Pty Ltd and Respironics Inc.

Dispute Resolution

Macrossans Lawyers' dispute resolution team has more than 20 years experience in enforcement, litigation and dispute resolution.

Our team acts for a broad spectrum of clients from individuals to large corporations and in a wide range of jurisdictions including the Supreme Court, the Federal Court, the Industrial Relations Commission and various tribunals.

We have expertise in:

  • Advising on building and engineering disputes in arbitrations and court actions
  • Acting in insolvency and recovery actions
  • Dispute resolution involving sale of property and legislative provisions affecting real property
  • Contractual dispute resolution in relation to sale of businesses, disputes under franchise agreements and professional negligence matters
  • Acting in claims under Section 52 of the Trade Practices Act
  • Insurance matters including public liability, workers compensation and professional indemnity actions.

Macrossans Lawyers actively supports a number of Not-for-Profit organisations through offering pro-bono advice.

The organisations it currently supports include:

  • Corporate Angels Network - a charity which arranges airfares for family members in country areas to accompany people for medical treatment.
  • Congress of Aboriginal and Torres St Islander Nurses (CATSIN) - a group which represents indigenous nurses and assists to train them so that they can practice back in their communities
  • Sylvia & Charles Viertel Charitable Foundation – one of the largest charitable foundations in Australia. Macrossans Lawyers has helped this trust commit over $35m for long-term support for
    • medical research
    • Queensland Cancer Fund resulting in a cancer research program
    • Prevention of Blindness Foundation, leading to the establishment of a world-class Ophthalmology Research Centre at South Brisbane
    • Salvation Army, leading to the introduction of the House for Youth project that provides accommodation for homeless youth.

Guide Dogs Queensland

Macrossans Lawyers' major charity is Guide Dogs Queensland (GDQ), with various Partners actively supporting GDQ for nearly 20 years.

A proud sponsor, Macrossans Lawyers is dedicated to helping GDQ achieve its vision of providing greater mobility to vision-impaired Queenslanders.

We do this through providing financial sponsorship for fundraising activities and also provide pro bono advice on a wide variety of commercial matters including business structuring, bequests and the registration of trademarks.
