Linda Hamilton commenced working with Hunt & Hunt as a Partner in September 2007, having been admitted to practice in 1990.
She has practised in liability and professional indemnity litigation since 1990.
She was previously National Manager (Liability and Financial Risk) for a large general insurer. In that capacity, she was responsible for one of the largest and most diverse claims management operations in Australia. Her role included managing 33 people across two States, 6,000 claims and notifications nationally, assisting in the valuation of the company's book, and being part of the tort reform process. Her knowledge of most insurance products is advanced.
Linda's preferred area of law is professional indemnity insurance, though her experience also extends to product liability, public liability, property damage and marine matters.
Linda has presented papers to senior legal practitioners on loss of opportunity, to the industry at insurance law conferences, and been published in the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance Finance Journal.
Her papers have also been published on the Australian Professional Indemnity Group and Professional Indemnity Market Conference websites.
Linda has presented papers to numerous insurers and has been retained to audit claims reserves on behalf of cover holders and for the New South Wales Treasury Managed Fund.
Linda has:
- Acted on behalf of private schools and religious groups in claims involving illegal acts of employees due to the personal injury and death of students
- Acted for structural, geotechnical and mechanical engineers in professional indemnity litigation
- Provided advice and acted for, the mortgage broking industry and brokers in Australia
- Acted for real estate agents, valuers and property and construction professionals nationally
- Provided advice to insurance interest groups and associations
- Acted in commercial disputes including rectification of insurance contracts and contracts interpretation.
