Emma commenced working with Hunt & Hunt as an Articled Clerk in 2002. Emma worked as a lawyer in the insurance practice group at Hunt & Hunt until 2006. Emma has recently returned from working in Bangkok, Thailand, and has rejoined Hunt & Hunt as a Senior Associate in the insurance practice group. In Thailand Emma worked in litigation, with an emphasis on insurance, providing advice in relation to indemnity, liability and quantum in matters where the potential exposure commonly exceeded $US20M. Emma is responsible for the care and conduct of litigation matters for insurers, focusing on claims involving public and products liability and property damage. Emma has been involved in projects including: - Representing national and multinational insurers defending Victorian WorkCover recovery actions and associated common law claims in respect of work place injuries
- Representing a multinational core banking software company in an ICC Arbitration in a claim arising out of the delivery and implementation of a core banking software system at a major Thai Bank. Emma's role involved advising on liability and quantum and interviewing and drafting witnesses statements
- Representing an international insurer in relation to a warehouse fire at Thai logistic company, which resulted in damage to cargo owned by 38 separate companies at a value in excess of $US20M. Emma's role involved interviewing witnesses and preparing statements, advising the insurer under a marine policy in relation to indemnity, liability risks, quantum and a co-ordinated strategy for approaching 38 separate claims
- Representing an international insurer in relation to recovery proceedings brought in the Supreme Court of Victoria arising from the supply of resins to manufacturer flexible polypropylene membrane liners produced by Nylex Corporation Pty Ltd. The liners were used in various applications, such as tailing damages and water storage reserves. Emma role included interviewing and drafting witness statements, affidavit material and liaising with expert witness
- Working on a number of SingTel Optus Pty Ltd fibre optic cable damage recovery matters, including advising on liability and quantum and providing recommendations for risk management strategies
Emma has also given presentations on the new product liability laws in Thailand. |
