Maria commenced working with Hunt & Hunt in February 2007. Prior to joining our firm, Maria held the role of Director at Gells Lawyers. Maria has been in practice for over 13 years, with a strong focus on commercial transactions, corporate structuring and banking and finance including dealing with international banking clients. Maria's expertise in Corporate and Commercial law, includes business structuring, asset protection, buying and selling of businesses, commercial leases, employment issues, negotiating and drafting contracts both for local and international use and advisory work over a range of industries, including automotive, transport, services and Information Technology & Telecommunications. In the area of Banking and Finance law, Maria provides legal advice to clients on all aspects of structuring and documentation of loan and security products, property finance, general corporate and commercial secured lending transactions, preparation of standard documentation for financiers, advice on compliance and regulatory issues and securitisation. Maria is also experienced in asset protection and matters involving partnership or shareholder disputes and Trade Practices issues. She has been extensively involved in the automotive industry, wherein she has acted for major automotive dealers in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory in various transactions and also in the provision of advice with respect to operational legal issues, and corporate compliance. Maria is fluent in Portuguese. Maria has played key roles in: - a number of multi million dollar transactions including share sales and purchases, property and business sales and acquisitions involving multiple sites and jurisdictions.

- Acting on a $90 million refinance of a corporate group.
- acting for a leading retailer of electronics, safety gear, powerboat and sailboat equipment on its $12 million purchase of a 14-outlet retail and mail-order boating accessories business.
- advising on international Manufacturing and Distribution Agreements and the setting up of joint ventures between Australian companies and overseas associates.
- acting on a $60 million sale of shares in a fleet management and salary packaging company to a public company.
- acting on an $80 million acquisition of a private bus company business involving multiple depots, routes and service contracts and numerous vehicles and property.
- acting for private bus companies on sales and acquisitions of land and leasing for bus depots, also advising on negotiations and disputes with the NSW Ministry of Transport and other bus operator.
- acting on a $36 million sale of motor dealership group to a public company
