We have also had involvement in many Coronial inquests, including acting for employer/company director interests.

An often overlooked, but fundamental, practice in occupational health and safety is being familiar with the client's workplace.  Hunt & Hunt takes care not to overlook this important step. Upon winning a client, we invest the time – our own time – in conducting site inspections of our client's premises and workplace as this enhances our appreciation of the entity's systems and conditions of work.  In turn, this aids our understanding of the restrictions imposed upon our clients' workforces, and helps us to assist our clients in devising safe systems of work.

Dust Diseases

Within our Occupational Health and Safety team, we employ a specialist in dust disease litigation and environmental contamination. We have represented the interests of both insured and uninsured corporate entities in defence of claims by employees for damages for asbestos and silica exposure at a diverse range of workplaces, including factories, mines, quarries, building sites, power stations, oil refineries, cement works, road works, ships and dockyards. In doing so, we have accumulated a wealth of knowledge on the different types of asbestos suppliers and manufacturers worldwide. We are well-versed with dust and the diseases that develop following exposure to it. In addition to litigation matters, we have advised the Defence Housing Authority to enable it to effectively manage asbestos in all of the properties under its control Australia-wide, and have advised a Top 50 listed company in relation to an asbestos spill.
