Graduate Employment

The Melbourne Office 2011 Graduate Program is fully committed. Our 2012 Graduates will be recruited from our 2010/2011 Seasonal Clerkship Program. We are not currently accepting open market applications. Priority offers will be made in accordance with the LIV Guidelines.

Structure of the program

Our Graduate Program runs for approximately 9 months during which time graduates will be exposed to each of our core practice areas. In addition to the College of Law Practical Legal Training course, graduates can expect to be involved in matter related work, in-house training and mentoring, to assist in meeting the required competencies for admission to practice.

Seasonal Clerks (Summer & Winter)

Applications for our 2011/2012 program will follow the LIV Seasonal Clerkship Guidelines 2011.

Who can apply

We believe students in their penultimate year of study will benefit most from our clerkship program, however, we will also accept applications from final year students.

Our Program

As the clerkship is only three weeks in duration, we won’t lock you up in a training room for days, learning systems that won’t be relevant during your stay. Instead, after a half day orientation, you will be assigned to one of our three core practice groups where you will conduct research, attend client meetings, mediations, conferences with Counsel and all the things you expect to do as a junior lawyer at our firm. We believe getting you involved in ‘real’ work will provide us both with the best opportunity to assess our compatibility for a graduate position.

What we look for in a Seasonal Clerk

We are looking for talented people who have a commitment to upholding our firm’s values: Honesty, Integrity, Respect and Teamwork.

In line with these values, we also desire ambitious people with solid academics who also have interests outside of academic life. An emphasis on teamwork and collegiality and contributing to the vitality of our firm, are also essential requirements when working at Hunt & Hunt.

Advice for applicants

Keep your application honest and make sure your cover letter reveals your personality and attributes. Tell us why you think you would fit in at Hunt & Hunt. Make sure you proof read your application – this is our first opportunity to assess your communication skills – make it count.

How to apply

Please email your application, including a copy of your academic transcript, CV and covering letter, to Marnie Harper.
