Our leading taxation law expert Peter Gell brings more than 30 years’ experience to Hunt & Hunt. Peter works closely with other areas of legal expertise in the firm, such as our Corporate & Commercial, Banking & Finance and Property and taxation teams, enabling us to deliver a fully integrated and value-added service to our clients.
Peter advises on a full range of tax issues, including GST and capital gains tax, tax-effective estate planning and wills, business structuring, reorganisations and reconstructions, complex negotiations and dispute resolution, shareholder arrangements and joint ventures.
Peter was a member of the Law Society of New South Wales GST technical sub-committee which was brought into existence to assist lawyers to understand GST in their practices. He later assisted the Law Society through the taxation sub-committee.
His client base extends from individuals to owners of large privately owned corporations, public companies and associations.
Peter is a chartered taxation advisor appointed by the Taxation Institute of Australia. This is an internationally recognised taxation qualification signifying experience and excellence in the delivery of taxation based advice.
In 2011, Peter wrote the material for a subject “Legal and Tax Aspects of Estate and Financial Planning” for the degree of Masters in Estate planning offered by the NSW College of Law.
Peter wrote the entire subject material which consisted of eight separate units covering different aspects of estate and financial planning, set the examination paper and gave some guest lecturing as part of the process.
Peter is also a regular presenter to the state legal conference, Lexis Nexis and the Law Society of New South Wales.
