Experience

Linda Hamilton was admitted to practice in 1990.

She has practised in liability and professional indemnity litigation since 1990 and was previously National Manager (Liability and Financial Risk) for a large general insurer.

Linda has presented papers to senior legal practitioners on loss of opportunity, to the industry at insurance law conferences, and been published in the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance Finance Journal and is the joint general editor of the Australian Insurance Law Bulletin.

Her papers have also been published on the Australian Professional Indemnity Group and Professional Indemnity Market Conference websites.

Linda has presented papers to numerous insurers and has been retained to audit claims reserves on behalf of cover holders and for the New South Wales Treasury Managed Fund.

Linda has:

  • Acted on behalf of private schools and religious groups in claims involving illegal acts of employees due to the personal injury and death of students
  • Acted for structural, geotechnical and mechanical engineers in professional indemnity litigation
  • Provided advice and acted for, the mortgage broking industry and brokers in Australia
  • Acted for real estate agents, valuers and property and construction professionals nationally
  • Provided advice to insurance interest groups and associations
  • Acted in commercial disputes including rectification of insurance contracts and contracts interpretation
  • Acts for public authorities.
