Hunt & Hunt is delighted to announce Andrew Ham has joined as Principal in the Melbourne based Banking & Finance team.

Andrew has more than 25 years’ experience as a commercial and financial services lawyer and compliance professional.  Throughout his career, he has worked both in-house and in private practice in Australia and the USA.

Hunt & Hunt Victoria Managing Principal Tony Raunic said “Andrew has a reputation for providing prompt, practical advice in plain English.  He is a great fit with Hunt & Hunt’s Genuine People, Practical Solutions ethos.”

Throughout his varied career, Andrew has worked with some of Australia’s leading financial institutions, including some of the big four banks, financial start-ups and vehicle finance businesses.

Tony said “Andrew’s experience in the financial sector expands the depth of our banking and finance practice, allowing us to provide our clients with a broader array of services in this sector.”

He has extensive experience in financial services regulation and is an expert in the commercial and regulatory issues arising in the financial services industry, including financial services and consumer credit licensing and conduct obligations, anti-money laundering, privacy and the Personal Property Securities legislation.

Andrew has a deep understanding of the commercial needs of financial services providers having spent many years as in house counsel and in senior compliance roles.

Andrew joins Principal Richard Williams in Melbourne’s banking & finance team, adding further knowledge and expertise to this niche area of law.

“Andrew’s expanding interest in rapidly evolving financial products such as cryptocurrency, financial technology products, and digital payment services adds another dimension to our renowned experience in financial services regulation under Richard”, said Tony.

“I look forward to working closely with Richard and Hunt & Hunt’s client base, continuing to support them by providing solutions to their legal and compliance challenges in the rapidly changing finance space, and helping them to grow and meet their strategic goals” said Andrew.

Passionate about the sector, Andrew is a member of the Financial Services Committee of the Law Council of Australia, and the Chair of the GRC Institute Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) discussion group.

Tony added, “Andrew brings to Hunt & Hunt’s Melbourne team not only a wealth of experience, but his leadership skills will be a key asset to the continual development of our property and banking & finance team and support staff.”

“We look forward to Andrew’s contribution to Hunt & Hunt’s ongoing growth in Victoria”, said Tony.
