Personal Experience

Richard is the Head of the Transport & Logistics practice at Hunt & Hunt, and holds a leadership role across the service delivery of our broader commercial offering to clients.

Richard has extensive experience in advising clients on all aspects of commercial activities, conducts major commercial transactions, undertakes sector-specific litigation (as well as alternative dispute resolution pathways) and provides commercial, regulatory and risk management advice to his clients.

Richard’s practice is primarily focused on the transport and logistics industries, and his clients include some of Australia’s largest integrated logistics companies, port and terminal operators, marine and logistics insurers and international shipping lines.

In a commercial context, Richard regularly acts and advises on corporate transactions, including share and business sales and acquisitions, operational agreements, drafting and negotiating of contractual documents, trading terms, supply and procurement, and competition law issues.

Matters

Examples of Richard’s work include:

  • Acting for the owners of a container services business on the sale of their interests to a large ASX-listed logistics industry participant;
  • Acting for a large Australian services company on the sale of its agency business including operations and subsidiaries in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and India;
  • Acting for a US conglomerate on the acquisition of an established South Pacific shipping line;
  • Acting for a major international liner operator on the acquisition of a property-rich container depot business;
  • Acting and advising on a myriad of commercial disputes, from early informal settlement discussions, mediations, arbitrations and litigation at State and Federal levels; and
  • Acting and advising on numerous, and significantly valued, commercial operational agreements.
