Personal Experience

Jessica is an Accredited Specialist in Planning and EnvironmentLaw. Jessica was awarded the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Winner award in 2022 for the Native Title, Planning and Environment category.

Jessica provides both advice and litigation support to private clients, land users, and NSW Government agencies on a variety of issues across the planning and environment space, predominately in the Land & Environment Court.

Jessica assists clients with environment and planning law matters, including specific issues regarding land use, development, contamination, waste and circular economy, vegetation and biodiversity offsetting, fire regulation and bush fire planning, flood zoning and planning, heritage conservation, existing use rights, as well as sustainability and climate change.

Jessica has a sound understanding of the NSW planning legislation and environmental planning instruments, including post determination certificates, as well as the extensive planning pathways for both private and Crown developments.

Additionally, Jessica acts for both private clients and NSW Government agencies in relation to the acquisition of land for infrastructure projects across NSW under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991, including all stages of the process from pre-acquisition to Class 3 appeals in the Land & Environment Court.

Jessica has developed her skills and shared her knowledge outside of her role at Hunt & Hunt as a member of the National Environmental Law Association’s Climate Change Working Group, as a secondee to the NSW Government providing legal advice on natural resources and water law, and as a casual academic in the post-graduate Sustainable Development and the Urban Environment course at UNSW Sydney.
