Personal Experience

Jessica joined Hunt & Hunt as a graduate in the Environment and Planning team in 2014.  Jessica has supported Partners Maureen Peatman and Hasti Kalarostaghi on a range of litigious and advice matters for private and government clients.

Jessica’s main areas of practice include:

  • Mediation and litigation for compulsory acquisitions for numerous infrastructure projects, including supporting role to Hasti Kalarostaghi on Desane Properties Pty Limited v State of New South Wales & Ors [2018] NSWSC 553.
  • Waste and contamination advice for private clients across NSW, including support in responding to EPA notices and requests for information, as well as advice regarding the NSW Waste Regulations and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
  • Planning and local government advice under the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979, including Class 1 development appeals, drafting of submissions for proposed developments, and discrete advice relating to a wide range of urban and rural planning issues, including existing use rights, revision of Review of Environmental Factors for government clients, and the Education SEPP.
  • Advice and litigation regarding vegetation and biodiversity in urban and rural areas.
  • Easement and property matters including fencing and tree disputes.

In 2017 Jessica was seconded to provide legal advice on natural resources and water law within the NSW government.

Jessica has a sound understanding of environmental and sustainability issues gained through her work experience and academic studies.
