Hunt & Hunt Victoria is proud to announce the launch of our inaugural'
Reflect' Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), a significant milestone in our firm's ongoing commitment to fostering respectful relationships and creating meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Developed in partnership with Reconciliation Australia, this'
Reflect' RAP provides a structured framework to help us build cultural awareness, strengthen community engagement, and establish the foundations for long-term reconciliation initiatives within our practice.
The launch event, held at our Melbourne office, brought together staff, clients, and community stakeholders to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work. We were honoured to be joined by Helen Plazzer from Reconciliation Australia and Liv Slater, the artist behind'
Change'€”the striking artwork that features on the cover of our RAP and symbolises the principles of connection, growth, and shared responsibility.
In her address, Liv shared the story and meaning behind'
Change, describing its visual representation of paunity, a term that embodies kinship, community, and the shared journey towards reconciliation. Her reflections reminded us that reconciliation is not a destination but a continuous, collaborative process.
Our RAP reflects our firm's ethos of'
Genuine People, Practical Solutions, and reaffirms our commitment to listening, learning, and taking action. We recognise that as a legal practice, we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to promote equity, inclusion, and truth-telling through our work.
Over the coming year, we will undertake a series of initiatives outlined in our RAP, including staff training in cultural awareness, building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, and exploring ways to embed reconciliation principles into our operations and decision-making processes.
We extend our thanks to Reconciliation Australia for their support and guidance, and to all those within Hunt & Hunt Victoria who contributed to the development of this important document.
This is just the beginning.
